How to plan a tableware trousseau
A good trousseau list starts with three answers: how many people you will host, which style you love and what your budget is. Sets for 6 suit most new homes; families who host big meals are happier with 24+ piece sets or two sets.
The backbone of a tableware trousseau is four sets: a Turkish breakfast set, a dinnerware set, a Turkish coffee and tea set and cake and serving sets. Choosing them from one series makes the table look considered every time.
Glazed ceramic is one of the safest trousseau choices: food safe, dishwasher safe and timeless. At ERS Home we make every set in our own factory in Istanbul; with no middleman, your budget stretches to more pieces of the same quality. Looking for a present instead? Try our Gift Finder.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Turkish trousseau (çeyiz)?
Çeyiz is the home trousseau a Turkish bride (and increasingly the couple) prepares before the wedding: tableware, kitchenware, linens and decorative pieces for the new home. Tableware sets (breakfast, dinner, coffee and serving) are at its heart.
What should a trousseau list include?
The core is a breakfast set, a dinnerware set, a coffee/tea set and cake/serving sets, plus cutlery, glasses, cookware and storage containers. Our planner puts everything on one printable list.
How many pieces should a breakfast set have?
For most homes a 14–22 piece breakfast set for 6 is enough. If you host big family meals, choose 24 pieces or more, or two sets. The planner picks the right range for the number of people.
Should the sets be from the same series?
It is not required but recommended: matching breakfast, dinner and coffee sets make the table look considered every time. Our planner first builds your list from a single series that fits your style.
Is the tableware dishwasher safe?
Yes. All our pieces are food-safe glazed ceramic and dishwasher safe for everyday use.
Do you ship trousseau sets abroad?
Yes, we ship to 32 countries with tracked courier. Choose your country at checkout to see the delivery cost.
